This proposed π-π removal mechanism of microcystin via the CSG chitosan biopolymer substrate offers a promising sustainable and selective media suitable for deployable treatment of HAB impacted waters.Organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs) and organophosphate pesticides (OPPs), pertaining to organophosphate esters, are ubiquitous in environment and have been verified to pose noticeable risks to human health. To evaluate human exposures to OPFRs and OPPs, a fast and sensitive approach based on a solid phase extraction (SPE) followed by the ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) detection has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of multiple organophosphorus metabolites in urine. The method allows the identification and quantification of ten metabolites of the most common OPFRs and all six dialkylphosphates (DAPs) of OPPs concerning the population exposure characteristics. The method provided good linearities (R2 = 0.998-0.999), satisfactory method detection limits (MDLs) (0.030-1.129 ng/mL) and only needed a small volume (200 μL) of urine. Recovery rates ranged 73.4-127.1% at three spiking levels (2, 10 and 25 ng/mL urine), with both intra- and inter-day precision less than 14%. The good correlations for DAPs in a cross-validation test with a previous gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method and a good inter-laboratory agreement for several OPFR metabolites in a standard reference material (SRM 3673) re-enforced the precision and validity of our method. Finally, the established method was successfully applied to analyze 16 organophosphorus metabolites in 35 Chinese children's urine samples. Overall, by validating the method's sensitivity, accuracy, precision, reproducibility, etc., data reliability and robustness were ensured; and the satisfactory pilot application on real urine samples demonstrated feasibility and acceptability of this method for being implemented in large population-based studies.Nowadays, pesticides are regarded as the most dangerous of the various organic pollutants, posing substantial environmental and human threats worldwide. The development and application of sophisticated wastewater treatment methods are being pursued to remove contaminants effectively, particularly pesticides. In the past several decades, nanoscience and nanotechnology have emerged as essential tools for the identification, removal, and mineralization of persistent pesticides by employing advanced nanomaterials such as pristine titanium dioxide (TiO2), doped TiO2, nanocomposites (NCs) TiO2, and ternary nanocomposites (TNCs) TiO2 by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). Advancement in the characteristics of TiO2 by doping, co-doping, construction of NCs and TNCs has contributed to the dramatic efficiency up-gradation by reducing band gap, solar active photocatalyst, enhancing PCA, high photostability, chemically inertness and multiple time reusability. Research have shown that PMDE released by molasses-based distilleries is a hazardous effluent that can cause harm to the biota and the environment; it contains elevated amount of total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS) and excess levels of persistent organic compounds (POPs), heavy metals, phenolic compounds, and salts. The practice of wastewater reuse for irrigation in many water scarce countries necessitates the proper treatment of PMDE before it is discharged into receiving water. Convention methods have been in practice for decades, but innovative technologies are needed to enhance the efficiency of PMDE treatment. Advance physical treatment such as membrane separation technology using graphene, ion-exchange and ultrafiltration membranes; chemical treatment such as advanced oxidation methods, electrocoagulation and photocatalytic technologies; biological treatment such as microbial and enzymatic treatment; and hybrid treatment such as microbial-fuel cell (MFC), genetically modified organisms (GMO) and constructed wetland technologies, are promising new methods to improve the quality of PMDE. This review provides insight into current accomplishments evaluates their suitability and discusses future developments in the detoxification of PMDE. The consolidated knowledge will help to develop a better management for the safe disposal and the reuse of PMDE wastewater.The current work investigates the conditional influence on Vigna radiate seed germination in vitro and in vivo using the green chemistry approach for the manufacture of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) from seed extract of Trachyspermum ammi (T. ammi). Ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the TiO2 NPs produced. The crystalline nature of TiO2 NP was revealed by XRD data, and TEM investigation revealed an irregularity in TiO2 NP shape with a size of 17.5 nm. UV absorbance at 315 nm for the TiO2 NPs was observed using Ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer. The antioxidant potential of the synthesized nanoparticle was discovered to be good. In case of seed germination studies, six concentrations (25, 50 100, 150, 200, and 250 μg mL- 1) of TiO2 NPs were examined along with the control on Vigna radiata seeds. Overall, the findings of this present study stipulated that the green TiO2 NP production can enhance the growth of Vigna radiate under in vitro and in vivo conditions.Three undescribed meroterpenoids, named bipolacochlioquinones A-C, together with seven known compounds, were isolated from the plant endophytic fungus Bipolaris victoriae S27 derived from the fresh stems of Rubia podantha Diels. Their structures were mainly determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis. The relative configurations of bipolacochlioquinones A-C were assigned using the ROESY spectrum, comparison of their spectral data with that reported in the literatures, and NMR calculations. Moreover, their complete absolute configurations were further established by electronic circular dichroism calculations using density functional theory. Among them, bipolacochlioquinone A is found to represent the first example of previously undescribed 6/6/6/6/6 pentacyclic dioxane-containing cochlioquinones, and bipolacochlioquinone B possesses a rare 6/6/6/6/5 pentacyclic system bearing a tetrahydrofuran ring fused to a polyketide and a sesquiterpenoid subunit. All compounds were evaluated for their inhibitory effects on tumor growth, metastasis, and the NF-κB signaling pathway. Among them, bipolacochlioquinone C and cochlioquinone A show the most potent cytotoxicities and NF-κB inhibitory activities. The structures of these compounds were defined by spectroscopic analysis, including ECD and 1D/2D NMR, and chemical conversion. Their structures with absolute configurations were determined through detailed spectroscopic data, including 1D and 2D NMR data analyses, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, ECD spectra, and DP4+ NMR data calculations as well as Mo2(OAc)4-induced ECD analysis. Furthermore, preliminarily evaluation of the anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative effects of the isolated triterpenes leads to the structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies implying that the unsaturated functional group at the end of the C17 side chain on euphane-type triterpenes may be correlated with the increase of anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative activities.Inonotus obliquus, an edible and medicinal mushroom parasitic on birches, has been used in human diet and for traditional therapies in the high latitude regions of Europe and Asia for a long time. Our phytochemical study of this fungus led to the identification of fourteen triterpenoids including four undescribed ones, and two pairs of undescribed phenolic enantiomers. The undescribed compounds were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis including 1D and 2D NMR and HRESIMS, quantum chemical NMR and ECD calculations, as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Bioassays revealed that eight compounds showed dual inhibition against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) with IC50 values ranging from 2.40 ± 0.05 to 28.72 ± 0.46 μM, while 3β-hydroxy-lanosra-8,24-dien-21-al and trametenolic acid only presented BuChE inhibitory activities with IC50 values of 22.21 ± 1.01 and 7.68 ± 0.13 μM, respectively. In the kinetic studies, the most active three compounds acted as non-competitive inhibitors for both cholinesterases.
