roblems in this finding. Therefore, to prevent these problems, the collaboration of clinical pharmacists, pediatricians, and other health care professionals is needed during the provision of pharmaceutical care.
Drug-related problems were high among pediatric patients with infectious disease in the study setting. The presence of comorbidity, polypharmacy, and prolonged hospital stay were predictors of drug-related problems in this finding. Therefore, to prevent these problems, the collaboration of clinical pharmacists, pediatricians, and other health care professionals is needed during the provision of pharmaceutical care.
Coronavirus disease 2019 is a pandemic disease, requiring persons around the world to take immediate action to reduce the risk of infection. This study was aimed to summarize the patterns and determinants of coronavirus disease 2019 knowledge, attitude, and practice among general populations and health workers.
A cross-sectional study from PubMed, HINARI, and Scopus were searched from March 16 to July 30, 2020. The review was done in line with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses-2009.
We found 56 articles upon the initial search. Finally, 21 studies were filtered to be studied in this systematic review. Overall, the majority of the articles that were previously published had good knowledge about coronavirus disease 2019 that lies in the ranges from 40% to 99.5%. A good attitude lies in the ranges from 70% to 97.1%. Among impact of coronavirus disease 2019 on mental health, only anxiety was reported that ranges from 24.6% to 96.3%. We found the variable practice towardsoronavirus disease 2019 should be studied at large, and every country should implement the strategy to combat the disease to increase the level of practice. In cardiovascular disorders, the myocardium may be subjected to the breakdown and remodeling of collagen by metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9). We hypothesized that the serum MMP-9 concentration may be elevated in pediatric patients with rheumatic heart disease (RHD) and heart failure (HF), and its level can be correlated with the HF severity. Thus, in the present study, we aimed to evaluate the sensitivity and accuracy of MMP-9 to predict HF in children with RHD and to determine its effectiveness as an indicator of the degree of HF. This study included 98 consecutive children admitted to the Department of Pediatrics, Zagazig University Hospital, Al Sharqia Governorate, Egypt with newly diagnosed RHD. Their ages ranged from 8.5 to 16 years. Fifty-eight children had RHD without HF while 40 children were complicated with HF which was diagnosed clinically and by echocardiography. A total of 44 healthy children were enrolled as a control group. MMP-9 serum levels were estimated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The D especially in rural areas, are highly recommended. The objective of the paper is to analyse changes in food commodity prices and estimate the potential effects of food price change on nutrition security in Nepal in the context of COVID-19 contagion control measures. It presents a comparative intra-country observational study design looking at events before and during the pandemic (after implementation of contagion control measures). The study design includes three districts, enabling comparison between diverse agro-ecological zones and geographical contexts. The methodology consists of primary data collection, modelling and quantitative analysis. The analysis is based on actual school meal food baskets which represent culturally and nutritionally optimised food baskets, developed by the local community and notional typical household food baskets. End May/early June 2020 is the 'Post-COVID-19' reference point, the same time period in 2019 i.e. June 2019 is the 'Pre-COVID-19' reference point. The study finds a substantial increase in food commodity prices across food groups and districts with marked inter-district variation. For school meal basket, all micronutrients show large average declines ranging from 9⋅5 % for zinc to 11 % for vitamin-A. For household food baskets on average, vitamin-A reduced 37 % followed by iron at 19 %, reduction in zinc is low due to the high zinc content in whole grain cereals. COVID-19 control measures are likely to have contributed to substantial price inflation over the reference period with potentially damaging effects on nutrition security in Nepal with serious implications for vulnerable populations.
Right heart catheterization (RHC) is associated with a higher procedural risk in older adults, but non-invasive estimation of pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a challenge. We aimed to elaborate a non-invasive prediction model to estimate PH.
We retrospectively analysed 134 older adults (70.0 years ±12.3; 44.9% males) who reported to our clinic with unclear dyspnea between 01/2015 and 01/2020 and had received RHC as a part of their diagnostic workup. NVP-TAE684 concentration Lung function testing, analysis of blood gas samples, 6 min walk distance and echocardiography were performed within 24 hours of RHC.
In a stepwise statistical approach by using an in/exclusion algorithm (using the AIC criterion) we analysed non-invasive parameters to test their value in predicting PH (defined as mean pulmonary artery pressure, PA
, >25mmHg). Discrimination capability of the final model was measured by the AUC (area under curve) from an ROC (receiver operating characteristics) analysis.
We yielded a sensitivity of 87.2% and a specificity of 62.5% in a combinatorial logistical model with systolic pulmonary artery pressure (sPAP) and forced vital capacity (VC
), the discrimination index was 86.7%. The odds ratios for an increase of 10 mmHg of sPAP were 2.99 (2.08-4.65) and 1.86 (1.11-3.21) for a 1 l decrease in VC
. On their own, VC
proved to be specific (83.3%), while sPAP was a sensitive (79.1%) predictor for PH.
We provide a combinatorial model to predict PH from sPAP and VC
in older adults, which may help to avoid invasive procedures.
We provide a combinatorial model to predict PH from sPAP and VCmax in older adults, which may help to avoid invasive procedures.
