The MQF is a flexible and efficient data structure that extends our ability to work with high throughput sequencing data.
Synthetic polymers present disadvantages such as high cost, limited availability, safety concerns, environmental hazards and accumulation in body. Lignin, an aromatic biopolymer, is highly abundant and offers various advantages including cost-effectiveness, biocompatibility and biodegradability. It also possesses various pharmacological activities including antioxidant, antibacterial, anticancer and UV protection, thus lignin has become a popular biopolymer in recent years and is no more considered as bio-waste rather extensive research is been carried out on developing it as drug carrier. Lignin also has non-biomedical applications including dispersing agents, surfactants, detergent/ cleaning agents, energy storage, etc. Methods This review compiles patents granted on production of technical lignin, different lignin therapeutic carriers and its biomedical and non-biomedical applications. The literature is collected from recent years including both articles as well as patents and is carefully analyzed and c of lignin is a hot topic of hour.
Lignin being a bio-inspired polymer has huge potential in commercial applications. New methods of lignin isolation from lignocellulosic biomass including physical pretreatments, solvent fraction, and chemical and biological pretreatment have been widely patented. Several micro/nano lignin formulations with improved and controllable reactivity like nanocontainers, nanocapsules, nanoparticles have also been reported recently. Also, various pharmacological properties of lignin have also been explored, thus valorization of lignin is a hot topic of hour.
In the present study, we have investigated the cardioprotective properties of Isosteviol (STV) under conditions of hypoxia-reoxygenation and elucidated the underlying mechanism.
In our previous studies, we have determined that STV exhibits neuro- and cardio-protective properties. However, the mechanism underlying STV-induced cardioprotection has not yet been fully understood.
All experiments were performed on rat heart embryonic H9c2 cell line. To induce hypoxia- reoxygenation, cells were exposed to 1% oxygen (in no glucose and no sodium pyruvate DMEM) following by reoxygenation (using fully supplemented MEM). Cells viability was tested by MTT assay, and protein levels were compared by Western blotting.
Treatment of heart embryonic H9c2 cells with STV (10 μM) significantly increased the survival of cells exposed to hypoxia-reoxygenation. STV (10 μM) activated ERK1/2 and DRP1 in hypoxia-reoxygenation, but did not have any effects on ERK1/2 or DRP1 in normoxia. STV (10 μM) did not regulate CAMKII, AKT or AMPK signaling pathways.
Taken all together, our findings demonstrate that 1) STV protects H9c2 cells against hypoxia-reoxygenation and that 2) this effect is mediated via ERK1/2. CucurbitacinI The property of STV that selectively activates ERK1/2 in cells exposed to stress, but not in cells under non-stress conditions, makes this compound a promising candidate-drug for therapy against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion in clinical practice.

The current ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has compelled us to scrutinize major outbreaks in the past two decades, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), in 2002, and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), in 2012. We aimed to assess the associated neurological manifestations with SARS CoV-2 infection.
In this systematic review, a search was carried out by key-electronic databases, controlled vocabulary, and indexing of trials to evaluate the available pertinent studies which included both medical subject headings (MeSH) and advanced electronic databases comprising PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL). Peer-reviewed studies published in English and Spanish were considered, which reported data on the neurological associations of individuals with suspected or laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. Outcomes were nervous signs or symptoms, symptom severity, and diagnoses.
Our search identified 45 relevant studies, with 21 case reports, 3 case series, 9 observainted with the divergent neurological symptoms to curb misdiagnosis and limit long-term sequelae. Health-care planners and policymakers must prepare for this eventuality, while the ongoing studies increase our knowledge base on acute and chronic neurological associations of this pathogen.
SARS-CoV-2 patients experience neuronal presentations varying with the progression of the infection. Healthcare professionals should be acquainted with the divergent neurological symptoms to curb misdiagnosis and limit long-term sequelae. Salvia miltiorrhiza (SM) is a traditional Chinese medicine used clinically to treat cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction. Its therapeutic effect has been confirmed by many clinical and pharmacological studies. However, the optimal formulation of active ingredients in SM for treating cardiovascular diseases remains unclear. In this study, we determined the ratio of the optimal compatibility of SM ingredients DSS, Sal-A, Sal-B, and PAL (SABP)with a uniform and orthogonal optimized experimental design. In addition, we determined the anti-oxidation effect of SABP using Adventitial Fibroblasts (AFs).
By using a combination of uniform and orthogonal designs, we determined the optimal formulation of aqueous extract from SM. MTT assay was used to determine the inhibitory effects of these 4 components of SM on the AFs, which were isolated and cultured from the aorta. The reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in AFs was compared before and after SABP treatment.
The optimal formulation of these 4 aqueous extracts from SM were 150 7 300 500, and their concentrations were S(1.
