pulous countries. Selection of the individuals is as important as the method or the reagent used in the method when a particular parameter is studied. Repleting the vitamin stores in the confirmed vitamin-deficient patients is more appropriate and easily feasible, since anyway they require treatment, than doing the same on the apparently healthy people. The data thus obtained can be better used as the reference value, for a more meaningful interpretation. The reference range can in turn be used to identify the sub-clinically deficient but asymptomatic people and managed accordingly.
Smartphones has significantly changed the lifestyle of people and considered as basic need for day to day work. But its usages beyond certain limits adversely affects physical and mental health. Aim of this study is to analyzes the quantitative usages of smartphone among controlled and uncontrolled type 2 diabetes patients. Objective is to correlate the pattern and duration of smartphone usages with the level of glycemic control.
"RealizD" is a mobile application that observes the pattern of mobile phone usages like 'screen time' (total duration of time spends watching mobile screen for any purpose) and number of times phone picked in a day. It graphically displays the hourly usages and longest duration of phone use in a single stretch. Subjects were patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) divided into 50 "case" with poor glycemic control and 50 "control" with good glycemic control. This application was installed in their smartphones to collect all above data. Subjects were observed for period of 3 monld be considered an important factor that need to be addressed.
Smartphones could be best companion if used judiciously. Their unrestricted use adversely affects the health. Among diabetes patient unregulated smartphone usages leads to poor glycemic control and thus could be considered an important factor that need to be addressed.
1. To study the incidence and clinical features of patients with Congenital Coronary Anomalies of Origin from Oppossite or Non-coronary Sinus; 2. To study the course of these Anomalous Coronary Artery Origins with CT Coronary Angiography.
A Cross Sectional Observation study was conducted at Department of Cardiology, in a tertiary Hospital for a period of 3 years. Patients undergoing Coronary Angiography (CAG) were screened and patients having Anomalous Coronary Origin from the Opposite or Non-Coronary Sinus of Valsalva were selected. CT Cronary Angiography was done in all such patients and the course of the anomalous artery was studied.
During the 3 years period of study, total of 5241 CAGs were conducted of which 42 (0.8%) patients were found to have Anomalous Coronary Artery Origin as per the inclusion criteria. Out of the 42 cases, Anomalous origin of RCA from Left Corornary Cusp was the commonest with 23(0.43%) cases, followed by Anomalous Origin of LCX from Right Coronary or RCC with 17 (0.32%) cas Most of these anomalous Coronaries have on benign course as defined on CT Coronary Angiography. However, it is important to recognize to delineate the origin and course as it can have significant clinical, therapeutic and prognostic implications.
HIV/AIDS is a chronic multisystem disease and about 70% develop neurologic complications (including distal symmetric polyneuropathy (DSPN) any time during their life. DSPN is also a very common toxicity of drugs used to treat HIV infection. Little is known about the impact of HIV per se or other factors (apart from drugs) on the occurrence of DSPN in these patients.
It was a cross sectional, observational study, done at the department of Medicine, PGIMER, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi, India. ATR inhibitor Ninety consecutive 18-40 years old HIV infected but treatment naïve (ART naïve) cases and 30 age and sex matched healthy controls were recruited for this study.
Out of 90 cases, 12 (13.4%) had DSPN (8 males and 4 females). The mean CD4 counts of these cases with and without DSPN was 294.73/μl and 370.84/μl respectively. Only 3 out of these 12 cases were symptomatic on presentation and rest nine were diagnosed on NCV study. No control had abnormal NCV. Presence of DSPN was found to be directly associated with infection with HIV per se (p<0.001) along with duration of HIV infection (p<0.01) and level of immunodeficiency (p<0.001).
This study demonstrates that DSPN is already present in 13.4% of treatment naive patients with HIV/AIDS and even with milder immunodeficiency and at early stages of disease. Not only HAART but HIV by itself is a major causative risk factor for DSPN in these patients.

The knowledge about the presenting characteristics, comorbidity, and outcomes of Indian patients for COVID-19 is limited.
To describe the clinical characteristics and outcomes of COVID-19 patients in Central India and to evaluate risk factors leading to requirement of oxygen, mechanical ventilation and mortality.
In this retrospective, we included 365 RT-PCR confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV in Sri Aurobindo Medical College and PG Institute, Indore, Madhya Pradesh from March 25, 2020 to May 15, 2020.
A total of 365 patients - 329 adults (Median age 49 years, 58.66% males) and 36 pediatric patients (Median age 10.5 years) were included. There was presence of comorbidity in 47.11% adults with most common being hypertension (24.92%), and diabetes (25.18%). 45.28% of adult patients were asymptomatic at presentation, with fever as the most common symptom (38.29%) and epidemiological contact history present in 69.90%. During hospitalization, 14.52% adults (median age, 50 years; 49.05% male) were on oxygen support, and 13% received mechanical ventilation (median age, 54 years; 63.26% male). As of May 15 2020, 8.4% adult patients died(median age, 57 years; 67.74% male). Presence of Lymphopenia, and Comorbid condition were identified as risk factors for requirement of oxygen, mechanical Ventilation and death.
