How to Program a MERCEDES Truck Key
If you're looking to replace the battery or your key isn't functioning the parts department is willing to assist you. Please note that replacement keys must be purchased and synchronized in the store. This is done to ensure your car's safety and security. This service can only be requested by you or an individual who is authorized to do so.
Keys
There are some reports that you can reprogram the Mercedes key, however this is not true. Once locksmith truck key is paired, it will not work with any other car. The beam of metal on the key has a unique profile, which is what the Mercedes system detects and only recognizes. A new blank MERCEDES truck key is of a different form and will not be compatible with the system.
The dealership will need to purchase a new, compatible key for your vehicle from Mercedes and they don't keep keys in the parts department. When you are picking up your key, you'll require the original title, registration, and the driver's license, passport, or identity card. This will help verify that you are the owner of the vehicle and not someone who is trying to steal it.
If you wish to have an agent or delegate pick the keys for you, they will need all the above documentation and a signed letter of authorization signed by the owner. The authorized representative or delegate must also bring the vehicle into the dealership to retrieve the keys. If you have other questions, call the dealer and they'll be more than happy to assist. They will let you know that they have the key on hand or if you need to order from Mercedes for a new, compatible key for your vehicle.
Remotes
In certain MERCEDES models, the remote key has an interactive touch screen that displays virtual buttons. When a button is pressed it transmits infrared signals to control devices. A graphical interface program can be used to program the screen. The "buttons" on the screen are actual images that represent parts of an electronic circuit. These include resistors, capacitors, inductors, potentiometers, diodes, transistors integrated circuits, and switches.
If you put your keys in the boot, it can be difficult to get them out of the truck without damaging the door or the Mercedes-Benz lock cylinder. It is possible to use a rope that has a slip-knot to hook the lock and pull it out, but this method is not completely safe. It may be necessary try it several times, or even contact an expert locksmith or roadside assistance service to help you open the truck without damaging it.
The lower-level case has a panel which is able to be opened to store the batteries. The panel is a light brown color, with white writing to indicate the type of batteries that should be used (UM-4/AAA). It also includes the Plus and Minus sign indent to indicate which direction the battery spring coils should go when installing the batteries.
Keyless Entry System
Using a technology called passive entry and go, SmartKeys with Keyless Go can allow you to start or unlock your vehicle even when the key is not inside. This is done by a transponder integrated into each SmartKey, which allows the vehicle to recognize the driver if it detects the key is within a certain distance.
To turn on your vehicle, the key transmits low-frequency signals that are picked up by the antennas inside and outside your door handles. If the transmission matches ID on the PASE module (Passive Access and Security Electronics), the system authorizes that the key act as a passkey that allows you to operate the vehicle.
These systems are designed for "replay attacks," where a hacker could record and replay control signals in order to gain access to an auto or building. To avoid this the risk, a specific algorithm makes sure that each transmission transmitted by the key fob differs from previous ones. This means that if someone captures one of these transmissions, and then attempts to duplicate it the car's PASE module will detect the attempt and block access.
