What Are the Different Types of Codes and How Do They Work?
Modern car keys contain unique chips that are specific to each vehicle, in contrast to older keys. This prevents thieves from simply using the key to start the car.
Keys can be purchased at an auto dealer or copied in a locksmith's shop. The manufacturer's process varies in that it involves turning the ignition key to the "on" position without beginning the car, and then removing it within the specified time.
Transponder Codes
As its name suggests, a transponder sends out an encoded signal that contains the four-digit code when it is interrogated by air traffic control. This signal, referred to as a SQUAWK Code, is used to identify aircraft on radar screens. It can also be used to send a specific message to the air traffic control system in the event of an emergency or to inform controllers of changes in weather conditions. Squawk codes are frequently used to communicate with ATC in situations where pilots are unable to communicate via radio. They are essential to ensure safe flying.
Every aircraft is equipped with a transponder that responds to radar interrogation by displaying an identifier. This enables ATC to identify the aircraft on a radar screen that is busy. Transponders come in a variety of modes that differ in how they respond to questions. Mode A transmits only the code, whereas mode C also contains altitude information. Mode S transponders give more details, such as call signs and location which are useful in airspace that is congested.

When this happens, the car's immobilizer will be turned off and the car will not start until a different key is used. PIN codes
A PIN code is a set of numbers (usually four or six digits) that are used to access an item, system, or service. For example, a smart phone has a PIN code that the user enters when they purchase the device and must enter each time they wish to use it. While a longer PIN number might appear to be more secure however, there are ways to hack or guess a PIN code that is as small as four digits. VIN Numbers
VIN numbers are used to identify vehicles and provide an abundance of information about them. VIN numbers are unique for every vehicle on earth and are not applicable to alien vehicles (or whatever). The 17 digits of a VIN code are a combination of numbers and letters that can be decoded to reveal crucial information about your vehicle or truck.

Each VIN number is a distinct piece of information. The first digit is for instance, what type of car it is, for instance an automobile for passengers, a pickup truck or SUV. The third digit describes the car's assembly division, while the fourth through eighth numbers describe the model type, restraint system type and body type as well as transmission and engine codes.
