Research shows that in the Caribbean one-third of people living with HIV continue to engage in unprotected sexual practices. Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and HIV-related risk behaviors have been found to play a contributory role in HIV transmission. We aimed to analyze gender differences in the association between CSA and substance use and sexual risk behaviors among Haitians living with HIV. A total of 276 HIV-positive individuals participated in this study with 56% experiencing sexual abuse during childhood. Results showed that participants who experienced CSA had increased odds of hazardous drinking compared to those who did not experience CSA; men (OR 2.9, 95% CI 1.2-7.3) and women (OR 2.5, 95% CI 1.2-5.6). While, marijuana use was only significantly associated in women (OR 5.2, 95% CI 2.1-13.5). For sexual risk behaviors, unprotected sex was significantly associated in both men (OR 3.0, 95% CI 1.3-7.1) and women (OR 2.0, 95% CI 1.5-7.7) who experienced CSA. Results of this study underscore the need for further research to better understand the role of gender in the relationship between CSA and risky behaviors among PLWH.Fish products are one of the preferred products in modern healthy diets, because they contain unqualified proteins, polyunsaturated fatty acids and a variety of vitamins and minerals. Intelligent packaging can effectively monitor the quality and safety of fish products, provide warning, and has a great market and development potential. Therefore, this paper reviews the research progress of intelligent packaging technology used to monitor the freshness of fish products. The quality attributes of freshness of fish products are summarized. The classification, principle and latest application progress of three advanced technologies, indicator, sensor and radio frequency identification (RFID), are summarized. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of the intelligent packaging technology for monitoring the freshness of products are discussed, and the current research results are summarized and prospected.Background The population genetics investigation of STR loci in specific populations is the basic premise for forensic practice, and the AmpFlSTRTM IdentifilerTM Plus kit is still widely used in most forensic DNA laboratories.Aim To obtain more reliable and accurate population genetic data of 15 autosomal STRs in the Shandong Han population and explore the genetic relationship with 25 neighbouring Chinese populations.Subjects and methods A total of 5356 unrelated Chinese Han individuals from Shandong Province were genotyped using the IdentifilerTM Plus Kit. Allele frequencies and corresponding forensic statistical parameters were calculated. Population comparisons were further explored through the neighbour-joining tree and multidimensional scaling analysis.Results A total of 217 alleles were calculated, the allele frequencies spanned from 0.0001 to 0.5340. The combined discrimination power (CDP) and the combined probability of paternity (CPE) of 15 STR loci were 0.99999999999999998755 and 0.999994524, respectively. Population comparisons demonstrated that Shandong Han have genetic homogeneity with most Sino-Tibetan populations.Conclusions Our study updates the Shandong Han population database with a large sample size. These 15 STR loci in the Shandong Han population are more polymorphic and discriminatory than shown in previous data, which could be more applicable to personal identification and paternity testing, as well other population genetics studies.OBJECTIVES To assess the efficacy of tocilizumab (TCZ) in the treatment of persistent arthritis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). METHODS The response to TCZ was evaluated in 304 patients with RA. TCZ treatment was completed after no fewer than 168 consecutive days between May 28, 2008 and July 31, 2019. Efficacy was evaluated using the DAS28-ESR and EULAR response criteria. RESULTS The mean DAS28-ESR decreased from 4.5 at baseline to 2.0 and 1.5, at 2 months and 1 year after treatment initiation, respectively, and was below 1.5 at 10 years. The retention rate within 1 year was 92.3%. TCZ re-administration to 74 patients with relapsed RA after TCZ withdrawal was also effective. The mean DAS28-ESR decreased from 4.4 at baseline to 1.8 and 1.6 at 2 months and 1 year after retreatment initiation, respectively. The mean swollen joint count decreased from 4.1 in initial TCZ administration and 2.8 in re-administration at baseline to 0.8 and 0.4 at 2 months, respectively. In all patients, good or moderate responses were achieved at least once within 12 months in both initial TCZ administration and re-administration. read more CONCLUSIONS TCZ efficiently ameliorated persistent arthritis in RA, regardless of initial administration and re-administration.Objectives We aimed to explore the effect of three pro-nuclei (3PN) incidence on laboratory and clinical outcomes after early rescue intracytoplasmic sperm injection (rescue-ICSI).Methods This study included 509 early rescue-ICSI cycles from February 2014 to February 2019. The patients were divided into 3PN = 0% (394 cycles) and 3PN > 0% (115 cycles) group. Main outcomes compared were good quality embryo, available embryo, implantation (IR), clinical pregnancy (CPR), abortion (AR) and live birth rates (LBR).Results There were no significant differences in the basal characteristics between two groups (p > .05). We observed that 3PN = 0% and 3PN > 0% groups had similar good quality embryo (47.02 versus 46.80%; p = .917) and available embryo (83.28 versus 81.37%; p = .247) rates. Our results showed that the IR (47.26 versus 51.05%; p = .357), CPR (61.17 versus 66.08%; p = .338) and LBR (52.80 versus 50.43%; p = .656) were comparable between 3PN = 0% and 3PN > 0% groups. The 3PN = 0% group showed significantly lower AR than that in the 3PN > 0% group (11.20 versus 21.05%; p = .029; OR 2.114; 95% CI 1.069-4.178).Conclusions 3PN incidence made negative effects on the clinical outcomes after early rescue-ICSI.
