The results confirmed our hypotheses for the dimensions of Potency and Evaluation, but not for the dimension of Activity. We conclude that, at least in poetic language, extreme values of acoustic features of vowels are a significant predictor for the emotional tone of a text.Chagas disease is one of the most important insect-vectored diseases in Brazil. The entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae was evaluated against nymphs and adults of Panstrongylus megistus, Triatoma infestans, and T. sordida. Pathogenicity tests at saturated humidity demonstrated high susceptibility to fungal infection. The shortest estimates of 50% lethal time (LT50 ) for P. megistus varied from 4.6 (isolate E9) to 4.8 days (genetically modified strain 157p). For T. infestans, the shortest LT50 was 6.3 (E9) and 7.3 days (157p). For T. sordida, the shortest LT50 was 8.0 days (157p). The lethal concentration sufficient to kill 50% of T. infestans (LC50 ) was 1.9 × 107 conidia/ml for strain 157p. In three chicken coops that were sprayed with M. anisopliae, nymphs especially were well controlled, with a great population reduction of 38.5% after 17 days. Therefore M. anisopliae performed well, controlling Triatominae in both laboratory and field studies.
Previously, the diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) required exclusion of organic causes by extensive diagnostic testing. Newer guidelines recommend IBS as a positive diagnosis based on symptoms with limited testing. We investigated the long-term safety and impact on use of health resources of a positive diagnostic strategy compared to a strategy of exclusion in patients with symptoms compatible with IBS.
In 2008-2010, primary care patients aged 18-50years fulfilling the Rome III criteria for IBS without alarm signals were randomized to a positive diagnostic strategy (limited blood tests, n=150) or a strategy of exclusion (extensive blood tests, fecal samples for intestinal parasites, and sigmoidoscopy with biopsies, n=152). At five years, hospital-registered diagnoses and use of health resources including lower endoscopies were retrieved from national registries. Participants provided 5-year data on Rome III criteria for IBS, severity of symptoms, and quality of life.
Baseline mean age was 31.4 (SD 9.1) years; 79% were female. No cases of celiac disease, and gastrointestinal or gynecological cancers were diagnosed within five years. Negligible and comparable numbers were diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease, benign gynecological conditions, and upper GI conditions in the two groups. The positive diagnosis strategy carried a higher number of lower endoscopies from year 1 to 5 (23 patients versus 13 patients in the exclusion group), but overall saved endoscopies.
A positive diagnosis of IBS was as safe as a diagnosis of exclusion in a five-year perspective and saved lower endoscopies; the study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov numbers NCT00659763/NCT01153295.

The association between Borrelia burgdorferi and primary cutaneous lymphoma is still unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to define the association of Borrelia burgdorferi with primary cutaneous lymphoma and its different entities.
Electronic databases were searched for all studies that assessed the presence of Borrelia burgdorferi DNA in specimens of primary cutaneous lymphoma. The association between Borrelia and primary cutaneous lymphomas was assessed with an odds ratio (significant p<0.05); cutaneous specimens with no lymphoproliferative disorders were used as controls. A secondary analysis was performed to assess the prevalence of Borrelia infection in different lymphoma entities.
Ten studies with 506 primary cutaneous lymphomas and 201 controls were included. The prevalence of Borrelia DNA positivity was highly heterogeneous among studies from different regions. Borrelia DNA positivity was significantly associated with primary cutaneous lymphomas (odds ratio = 10.88; p<0.00001). The prevalence of Borrelia DNA positivity was similar among different entities (marginal zone 7.3%; follicular 8.1%; diffuse large B-cell 7.5%; mycosis fungoides 8%).
Borrelia burgdorferi is significantly associated with primary cutaneous lymphomas, with no differences among the several lymphoma entities (both B-cell and T-cell), but with strong geographical differences. Molecular testing for Borrelia would be justified in patients with primary cutaneous lymphoma from endemic areas.

Methods of measuring body composition in youth with CF are often unreliable, expensive, or not clinically feasible. Grip strength (GS), a measure of muscle function, is used as a surrogate for muscle mass and is an indicator of nutrition status. This quality improvement project explored the feasibility of measuring GS in medically stable youth with CF, aged 6-21 years. A total 361 GS measurements were performed by using a digital hand dynamometer in youth from a single CF center. Using reference tables that were created for this project by merging data from the 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, youth with CF were found to be weaker than age- and gender-matched peers, even when controlled for differences in size. A positive association (P less then .001) was found between GS percentile and lung function, as measured by forced expiratory volume in 1 second percent predicted (FEV1pp). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/guanidine-thiocyanate.html Statistical analysis revealed that both BMI percentile and absolute GS (AGS) percentile were positively associated with FEV1pp and with each other, primarily at the lower levels of BMI percentile ( less then 50%) and AGS percentile ( less then 50%). GS may provide a reliable, less expensive, and clinically feasible alternative to body composition measurements in monitoring nutrition status in youth with CF, especially in youth whose BMI is in the less then 50th percentile.
