Trigger finger is a relatively common condition affecting the smooth gliding of tendons in the hand. When this entity affects the gliding motion of the wrist, it is termed as trigger wrist. In this article, we report the extremely rare case of a double trigger wrist caused by 2 tendon sheath tumors resulting in 2 trigger points in the motion of the wrist and carpal tunnel syndrome. The patient was managed with surgical excision of the tumors and release of the flexor retinaculum with resolution of symptoms.

Morbihan disease is a rare condition characterized by persistent erythema and solid edema of the upper two thirds of the face, leading to visual impairment and significant esthetic disfigurement. The underlying etiology of the disease remains uncertain, but its correlation with lymphoedema has been conjectured. Definitive treatment options are also lacking, and most current topical, systemic, and surgical interventions provide transient or partial results. In this report, we describe a case of Morbihan disease in a 32-year-old man. He suffered from erythema and swelling over the left periorbital region for 6 years, and was diagnosed with Morbihan disease. As the edema was unresponsive to drug therapy, he was referred to our department. Indocyanine green lymphography was performed, and the diagnosis of facial lymphoedema was confirmed. Manual lymphatic drainage was not effective, so we proceeded with surgical procedures. Lymphaticovenous anastomosis was performed to improve lymphatic drainage, and blepharoplato drug therapy, he was referred to our department. Lymphaticovenous anastomosis was performed to improve lymphatic drainage, and blepharoplasty was performed to debulk the enlarged tissue of lymphoedema. Asunaprevir cost The visual field improved significantly, and the patient remains free from reexpansion of the lesion during the 1-year follow-up.The surgical approach for lymphoedema treatment can be a viable option for severe Morbihan disease unresponsive to nonsurgical therapies.
ReSurge International is a nongovernmental organization that organizes surgical team trips to low- and middle-income countries. Cleft palate repair is commonly performed on these trips. A comprehensive cleft care program was implemented to help reduce postoperative palatal fistula rates.
A retrospective review of all patients undergoing cleft palate repair surgery with ReSurge International in Vietnam from 2013 through 2019 was performed. The cleft care program was implemented in 2018. This intervention involved preoperative education of patients and close postoperative monitoring. Critically, this program also provided closer access to providers. Subsequent follow-up was performed by a ReSurge physician. Parent-reported outcomes were assessed preoperatively and postoperatively using 5-point Likert-like survey questions.
Two hundred three patients underwent cleft palate repair. The patients were older and of higher Veau classification than is usually seen in the United States. The palatal fistula rate ies enhanced perioperative patient counseling, close follow-up, and maintenance of communication with patients.
Social media and instant messaging can improve patient education, follow-up, and outcome. The utilization of these modalities in cleft lip/palate care is not fully described. We formed an online platform consisting of a dedicated website, Facebook group and LINE group through which we provide information and counseling to our patient population. Our objective is to evaluate the impact and patient satisfaction of our online platform.
In this retrospective study, we designed a questionnaire aimed at evaluating the quality of information and patient satisfaction of the online platform. The questionnaire was distributed online to 732 cases connected to us through the LINE application.
The response rate was 26%. Website information was found very necessary and sufficient by 75% and 46% of the cases, respectively. Regarding Facebook, the medical team's response was found very professional and practical by 81% and 68% of the cases, respectively. Patient-patient interaction was helpful to 96% of the cases. The latissimus dorsi (LD) flap is still a popular choice for breast reconstruction. Plain LD provides a good option for women with small breasts, but with bigger breasts, the problem is insufficient volume. Traditionally, implants have been inserted to improve the volume, but because of problems associated with them, the use of fat grafting has gained popularity. Increased numbers of reports considering also immediate lipofilling have been published. This study aimed to evaluate and compare different techniques in LD reconstruction in association with complications, number of further operations, and duration of reconstructive process.
A retrospective review of patients who had undergone LD reconstruction between 2008 and 2019 was performed. Demographic and operative features, complications, and the duration of reconstruction process were analyzed.
A total of 291 LD flaps were performed in 283 women, including 161 (55%) implant enhanced, 73 (25%) immediate lipofilled, and 57 (20%) plain flaps. Of these, ction method, because it is associated most commonly only with minor complications. Careful patient selection is important when choosing between different techniques. This can have an impact on the number of further operations needed and the duration of reconstruction process. Immediate lipofilling is a safe technique to avoid the use of implant and allow fully autologous reconstruction.
