I. 35-54%) and 29% (95% C.I. 18-44%), respectively. Eleven studies were classified as high quality. Findings indicate that there is an overall high prevalence of suicidality, depression, and PTSD among FSW. Development of accessible large-scale interventions that assess mental health among this population remains critical.
To assess the impact of global physician empathy and its three subdimensions (establishing rapport, emotional and cognitive processes) on the severity of postoperative complications in a sample of cancer patients.
We retrospectively analyzed data on 256 patients with esogastric cancer from the French national FREGAT database. Empathy and its subdimensions were assessed using the patient-reported CARE scale and the severity of medical and surgical complications was reported with the Clavien-Dindo classification system. The usual covariates were included in multinomial logistic regression analyses.
Physician empathy predicted the odds of reporting major complications. When patients perceived high empathy, they were less likely to report major complications compared to no complications (OR = .95, 95% CI = [.91-.99], p = .029). Among the three dimensions, only "establishing rapport" (OR = .84, 95% CI = [.73-.98], p = .019) and the "emotional process" (OR = .85, 95% CI = [.74-.98], p = .022) predicted major complications.
Physician empathy is essential before surgery. Further research is needed to understand the mechanisms associating empathy with health outcomes in cancer. Physicians should be trained to establish good rapport with patients, especially in the preoperative period.

This study examines seasonal patterns in hospital admissions due to schizophrenia in Queensland, Australia, a large area that has a range of different climatic features. Daily hospital admissions data for people with the primary diagnosis of schizophrenia were collected from Queensland Health Department for the period from January 1996 to December 2015. A generalised linear regression model with Quasi-Poisson distribution was used to assess seasonal admission patterns across different climatic regions. The evidence for seasonality was also explored in subgroups that had different socio-demographic characteristics or history of prior hospitalisation for psychiatric disorders. Overall, a significant winter pattern (RR 1.05, 95%CI 1.01-1.13) was found with a peak in August (RR 1.08, 95%CI 1.03-1.17) in temperate Southeast Queensland. However, the hot humid North and Far North Queensland showed a peak in October (RR 1.10, 95%CI 1.02-1.22). Males (RR 1.11, 95%CI 1.07-1.14), people aged 40-59 years old (RR 1.10, 95%CI 1.05-1.15) and those who had never married (RR 1.09, 95%CI 1.06-1.12), were Australian by birth (RR 1.07, 95%CI 1.04-1.10) or were unemployed (RR 1.13, 95%CI 1.09-1.18) had significantly higher risk for hospital admissions, particularly during the winter months. The seasonal admission pattern for schizophrenia did not change significantly according to admission status and history of outpatient or community psychiatric treatment. The study found some evidence for seasonality of hospital admissions for schizophrenia that differed from northern tropical to southern temperate regions of Queensland.Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA) is caused mainly by genetic mutations in large (RPL) or small ribosomal subunit genes (RPS) and presents with macrocytic anemia and congenital malformations. Clinical differences between genotypes are insufficiently understood. The aim of this study was to assess clinical features, treatment strategies, and genotypes in the Swiss pediatric DBA population. We retrospectively reviewed medical charts of pediatric patients with DBA in Switzerland and stratified patients by RPL versus RPS mutations. We report 17 DBA patients in Switzerland who were all genetically investigated. In our cohort, patients showed a wide spectrum of clinical presentations and treatment needs. We found a high proportion of physical malformations (77%) including lower limb (17%) and anorectal (12%) malformations. The two patients with anorectal malformations presented both with antepositioning of the anus needing surgery within the first 15 months of life. One of these patients had sphincteric dysfunction, th the same family with a DBA-like condition where the same RPL17 variant was identified.Laccases have high biotechnological potential in industries since they catalyze the oxidation of many chemical compounds. The production of laccases by fungi has been extensively studied due to their secretion of enzymes and rapid growth using cheap substrates. Venetoclax nmr Trichoderma; the versatile fungal genus includes species of great biotechnological value and considered as a magnificent industrial cell factory of enzymes. In this study, 10 Trichoderma species were screened for laccase enzyme production by submerged cultivation. The studied species were identified by internal transcribed spacer (ITS) gene sequences. Guaiacol (0.04%) as an enzyme substrate in plate medium was used for the selection of maximum laccase-enriched Trichoderma species by formation of visual color halo intensity. This activity was evaluated by liquid submersion (flask medium) also. The absorbance of laccase contained broth was measured by a spectrophotometer (450 nm). The highest laccase production was obtained by T. atroviride (2.62 U/mL). Trichoderma cremeum and T. longipile showed medium laccase potency, while T. beinartii exhibited weak laccase secretion ability. Laccase from T. atroviride was purified by SDS-PAGE and the molecular weight was determined (57 kDa). The laccase was confirmed by their respective amino acid sequences, and the phylogenetic tree was constructed for further analysis.
