Supplementation of 150 mg/kg of Cu from Cu2O decreased the abundance (P less then 0.01) of some families such as Streptococcaceae and Corynebacteriaceae and increased the abundance (P less then 0.05) of some commensal bacteria like Clostridiaceae and Peptostreptococcaceae. Phenotypic AMR was not different among treatments on d 14 and 28. Isolated Enterococcus spp. from broilers fed the NC diet on d 42 showed higher (P less then 0.05) resistance to enrofloxacin, gentamicin, and chloramphenicol compared with Cu treatments. By contrast, the isolated Escherichia coli from broilers fed 150 mg/kg of Cu, either from CuSO4 or Cu2O, showed higher (P less then 0.05) resistance to streptomycin and chloramphenicol compared to the NC. This study suggests that supplementing 150 mg/kg of Cu from Cu2O establishes changes in the gut microbiota by regulating the bacterial population in the ileum, which may explain the positive impact on broilers' growth performance.Hypervirulent fowl adenovirus serotype 4 (hvFAdV-4) has emerged as a major pathogen of hepatitis-hydropericardium syndrome (HHS) with increased mortality in chickens, resulting in economic losses to the Chinese poultry industry since June 2015. Here, we isolated a hypervirulent FAdV-4 (hvFAdV-4) strain (designated GD616) from 25-day-old meat-type chickens with severe HHS in Guangdong Province China in June 2017. The whole genome of the strain GD616 shares high homology with those in the recently-reported hvFAdV-4 isolates in China, with natural deletions of ORF19 and ORF27. A comparative analysis of Hexon and Fiber-2 proteins revealed that 2 unique amino acid residues at positions 378 and 453 of the Fiber-2 protein might be associated with virulence due to their occurrences in all the hvFAdV-4 isolates only. To systemically evaluate the effect of age on the susceptibility of chickens to hvFAdV-4, we used this hvFAdV-4 strain to intramuscularly inoculate 7- to 180-day-old specific-pathogen-free chickens for the evaluation of pathogenicity. These results showed that the pathogenicity of the hvFAdV-4 strain GD616 to chickens exhibited age-relatedness, with younger than 59-day-old chickens showing 100% morbidity and mortality, while 180-day-old chickens still exhibited a hydropericardium syndrome-like clinicopathology with 60% morbidity and 20% mortality. These findings enrich the current available knowledge regarding the pathogenicity of the hypervirulent FAdV-4 virus in chickens with a wide range of ages, which assists with the selection of suitable-aged chickens for the evaluation of hvFAdV-4 vaccines.Shiraz is a widely planted cultivar in many of the world's top wine regions where it is used for the production of top-quality single varietal or blended red wines. Cell wall changes during grape ripening and over-ripening have been investigated, particularly in the context of understanding berry deconstruction thereby facilitating the release of favorable compounds during winemaking. However, no information is available on cell wall changes during berry shrinkage in Shiraz. Glycan microarray technology was used to directly profile Shiraz berries for cell wall polysaccharide and glycoprotein epitopes. Skins and pulp tissues were profiled separately and revealed that whereas the skin was rich in pectins and xyloglucans, the pulp tissues were mainly composed of extensin glycoproteins. Overripe (26-28°B) berries, particularly those from the warmer region site, revealed degradation of their pectin and extensin epitopes.Cr(III) has a vital role in the biological systems, and in many industrial and environmental processes, so the development of a selective, sensitive, and rapid method for its determination is a challenging goal. In this paper, an effective, selective, and inexpensive Cr(III) ions modified carbon paste electrode (MCPE) based on a simple ionophore named benazepril (BNZ) was developed and described. The proposed technique was validated using the EURACHEM guidelines. As a traditional Chinese medicine, Polygonum capitatum (PC) manifests its unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of complex diseases and chronic diseases, due to its ability to clear heat, detoxify and relieve pain, promote blood circulation, and remove blood stasis. In order to explore the molecular mechanism of PC for HAG, the study collected the predicted targets of active compounds, conducted functional analysis by the STRING database, collected HAG differential expression genes, and conducted KEGG enrichment analysis on the intersection of predicted targets and differential expression genes of gastritis by Cluego. The results show that PC works mainly by affecting phosphorylation of IκBα, NF-κB p65, p38MAPK, and ERK1/2 and nuclear transposition of NF-κB p65 and p-p38MAPK, which has been proved by in vivo and in vitro experiments. These results suggest that PC may act on HAG with multiple targets and pathways, and play a key role in the process of HAG treatment.Secretory carcinoma (SC) and acinic cell carcinoma (AciCC) are two rare tumors originating in the salivary gland of the head and neck. Before the World Health Organization (WHO) classified SC as a new entity in 2017, the majority of SC cases were incorrectly diagnosed as AciCC. Indeed, they are similar in biological behaviors, clinical manifestations and histomorphological features. Especially, SC and zymogen granule-poor AciCC are difficult to differentiate, which brings a tough challenge in clinical diagnosis. This article provides an updated understanding of the differential diagnosis in SC and AciCC from two main perspectives histopathology and molecular genetics. The targeted therapies for both tumors are also mentioned. It aims to give some hints in clinical diagnosis and treatment, in hopes that patients with adequate diagnosis could obtain the opportunityformore effective treatment.Intergroup biases shape most aspects of person construal, including lower-level visual representations of group members' faces. Specifically, ingroup members' faces tend to be represented more positively than outgroup members' faces. Here, we used a reverse-correlation paradigm to test whether engaging in perspective taking (i.e., actively imagining another person's mental states) can reduce these biased visual representations. link2 In an initial image-generation experiment, participants were randomly assigned to a minimal group and then composed a narrative essay about an ingroup or an outgroup target person, either while adopting the person's perspective or while following control instructions. Afterward, they generated an image of the person's face in a reverse-correlation image-classification task. Subsequent image-assessment experiments using an explicit rating task, a sequential priming task, and an economic trust game with separate samples of participants revealed that ingroup faces elicited more likability and trustworthiness than did outgroup faces. link3 Importantly, this pattern of intergroup bias was consistently weaker in faces created by perspective takers. Additional image-assessment experiments identified the mouth (i.e., smiling cues) as a critical facial region wherein the interactive effects of group membership and perspective taking emerged. These findings provide initial evidence that perspective taking may be an effective strategy for attenuating, though not for eliminating, intergroup biases in visual representations of what group members look like.
Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has revolutionized the treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms. Innovative techniques as chimney and periscope grafts can improve the outcomes of procedure. Herein, we report a case in emergency of huge Thoracic aortic aneurism.
An 86-year-old male with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, was referred to our hospital for chest pain. CT-angiography showed a huge aneurysm of aortic isthmus with signs of rupture. The patient was considered unfit for open surgery and an endovascular approach was chosen. This patient underwent endovascular repair with TEVAR, using the periscope graft technique to preserve patency in left subclavian artery (LSA).
Symptomatic ischemia from LSA coverage has been reported to occur in only a modest 6-10% of patients and is often sacrificed with impunity given coverage rates between 10 and 50%. In this case reported the lack of revascularization of LSA increased the risk of neurological manifestations or stroke. Periscope technique is feasible and safe to maintain perfusion to the subclavian artery, with a 93% primary patency at 2years.
Our experience using TEVAR with periscope graft technique as solution to address thoracic aneurysm of aortic isthmus was feasible and safe.
