Specifically focussing on research, we explore issues of access, representation and inclusion, the use of contextually relevant methods, and ethical considerations when working in post-colonial contexts.Conclusion Many of the points raised in this article are important for all contexts. Embracing qualitative approaches offers opportunities for the SLP profession to transform and meet our mandate of providing culturally safe, appropriate, effective care.One of the lessons we learned from the COVID-19 pandemic is that the need for ultrasensitive detection systems is now more critical than ever. While sensors' sensitivity, portability, selectivity, and low cost are crucial, new ways to couple synergistic methods enable the highest performance levels. This review article critically discusses the synergetic combinations of optical and electrochemical methods. We also discuss three key application fields-energy, biomedicine, and environment. Finally, we selected the most promising approaches and examples, the open challenges in sensing, and ways to overcome them. We expect this work to set a clear reference for developing and understanding strategies, pros and cons of different combinations of electrochemical and optical sensors integrated into a single device.

This review focuses specifically on the status of treatments that target the EMT process and its role in the therapeutic resistance observed in patients with CRC.The purpose of this project was to evaluate differences between groups and device configurations for emotional responses to non-speech sounds. Three groups of adults participated 1) listeners with normal hearing with no history of device use, 2) hearing aid candidates with or without hearing aid experience, and 3) bimodal cochlear-implant listeners with at least 6 months of implant use. Participants (n = 18 in each group) rated valence and arousal of pleasant, neutral, and unpleasant non-speech sounds. Listeners with normal hearing rated sounds without hearing devices. Hearing aid candidates rated sounds while using one or two hearing aids. Bimodal cochlear-implant listeners rated sounds while using a hearing aid alone, a cochlear implant alone, or the hearing aid and cochlear implant simultaneously. Analysis revealed significant differences between groups in ratings of pleasant and unpleasant stimuli; ratings from hearing aid candidates and bimodal cochlear-implant listeners were less extreme (less pleasant and less unpleasant) than were ratings from listeners with normal hearing. Hearing aid candidates' ratings were similar with one and two hearing aids. Bimodal cochlear-implant listeners' ratings of valence were higher (more pleasant) in the configuration without a hearing aid (implant only) than in the two configurations with a hearing aid (alone or with an implant). Methods Boluses and MAGNA-SITETM were placed on a Rando phantom to simulate the tissue expander under the pectoralis major. Computed tomography simulation images were transformed through replacing the electron density of (a) metallic artifact region only (Image metallic port) and (b) metallic port and artifact regions (Image Homo). Planning was calculated using fixed-beam and helical-mode techniques. Radiation was delivered with different volumes of the tissue expander. Results Integrated 997 dose points were calculated. Currently, CD, with "iceberg" characteristics, affects a large population and is distributed over a wide range of individuals. This present review summarizes the latest research progress on the relationship between CD and gluten. Furthermore, the structure and function of gluten peptides related to CD, gluten detection methods, the effects of processing on gluten and gluten-free diets are emphatically reviewed. In addition, the current limitations in CD research are also discussed. The present work facilitates a comprehensive understanding of CD as well as gluten, which can provide a theoretical reference for future research.
To study the safety and efficacy of 25-gauge trocar-assisted flanged intrascleral sutureless IOL fixation in patients with insufficient posterior capsular support.
Five aphakic eyes with capsular insufficiency were included in this prospective interventional case series study, at Dar El Oyoun Hospital, Cairo, Egypt. Twenty five-gauge trocar-assisted flanged intrascleral sutureless technique was used for IOL fixation, in which retinal microforceps were used to capture and externalize both haptics through a scleral tunnel. CDVA, IOP measurements and IOL centralization were reported pre- and one day, one & 3 months postoperatively. Any intra- or postoperative complications were recorded.

This discrepancy may be partly attributable to common predictors of suicide risk, such as childhood trauma and anger, and may also be independent of gender. Objectives The present study investigated gender differences in the impact of childhood trauma and current trait anger on suicide risk, in a group of young Turkish adults. We hypothesized that trait anger would mediate the association between childhood trauma and suicide risk, independently of gender. this website Participants and Setting Participants were 589 university students (84.3% women) aged 18-34 years (M = 21.43, SD = 1.82). Methods Gender group differences in suicide risk, history of childhood trauma, and trait anger as well as possible covariates (i.e., self-rated socio-economic status and academic performance) were assessed. Possible predictors of suicide risk in gender groups were examined. The role of trait anger as a mediator of the relationship between childhood trauma and suicide risk was also examined. Results Results showed that men reported a higher suicide risk, history of childhood trauma, and trait anger than women. Early childhood trauma and current trait anger scores were significant predictors of suicide risk in both gender groups. Trait anger significantly mediated the relationship between early trauma history and risk for suicide, independently of gender. This is attributable, at least in part, to suboptimal healthcare communication with health care practitioners (HCPs) whereby patients with ID and HCPs struggle to understand each other. Companions who attend healthcare appointments with patients with ID can support the communicative exchange between patient and HCP, but their involvement can have unintended consequences. This article uses Conversation Analysis (CA) to analyse video-recorded data from primary care health checks involving 24 patients with ID. This method shows that companions use their linguistic and experiential resources to intervene as 'brokers' to address real or potential threats to mutual understanding between patients with ID and HCPs. Their interventions can fill in the gaps in knowledge and understanding of the other parties, but also run the risk of deskilling the others in the interaction, by relieving them of the obligation to address communication breakdown directly themselves.
