GalNAc-based delivery relies on the fact that liver hepatocytes abundantly and specifically express the asialoglycoprotein receptor that binds and uptakes circulating glycoproteins via receptor-mediated endocytosis. In recent years, encouraging progress has been made in the field of GalNAc conjugates. This review aims to provide an overview of GalNAc-mediated liver-targeted delivery of small interfering RNA and antisense oligonucleotides, and the immense effort as well as recent advances in the development of GalNAc-conjugated agents are described.
To investigate possible differences in the auditory peripheral and brainstem functions between adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and neurotypical (NT) adults.
Click-evoked auditory brainstem responses (ABRs) were obtained from 17 high-functioning ASD adults (aged 21-38 years) and 20 NT adults (aged 22-36 years). A relatively large number of stimulus presentations (6000) were adopted, and ABRs by horizontal and vertical electrode montages were evaluated, in order to allow precise evaluations of early ABR components.
Waves I, II, III, and V were identified in the vertical electrode montage, and wave I and the summating potential (SP) in electrocochleograms were identified in the horizontal electrode montage. There were no significant group differences in the wave I, II, III, and V latencies or the interpeak latencies (IPLs) in the vertical electrode montage. In the horizontal montage, the ASD adults exhibited significantly shortened SP latencies compared with the NT adults, whereas there was no significant group difference in the wave I latency.
The ASD adults may have the abnormalities of processing more in the peripheral auditory system than in the brainstem.

The current study suggests that the peripheral abnormality is associated with ASD.Owing to the COVID-19 induced lockdown in India, most people's internet activity surged, leading to an expected increase in the rate of cybercrimes. This research focuses on analyzing whether the factors significant in cyberbullying susceptibility changed with the lockdown. The study was conducted by surveying 256 students before the pandemic, in October 2019, and 118 students during the lockdown, in June 2020. This included questions about the respondents' demographics, online presence, experience with offline bullying, perception of other's opinions, and the instances of cyberbullying that apply to them. The results showed factors important in both timespans, namely (i) experience with offline bullying; (ii) individuals' perceptiveness to others' opinions; (iii) frequency of social media posts. Additionally, in the period before lockdown, factors namely (i) tendency to interact with strangers online; (ii) whether they've started a relationship online (iii) hours spent on social media; were found significant. Conversely, during the lockdown, additional distinct factors namely (i) being opinionated on public platforms; (ii) preference of Instagram; (iii) preferred gaming platform; (iv) number of games played; (v) sexual orientation; (vi) age were significant. With the change in variables in the two timespans, we can conclude that the pandemic has affected our susceptibility to cyberbullying.Waterpipe tobacco smoking (WTS) has increased substantially in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR), affecting young adults who perceive waterpipe as safer than cigarette smoking. Applying pictorial health warning labels (HWLs) on tobacco products has been effective in communicating health risks associated with tobacco smoking. However, there are few experimental studies that examined pictorial HWLs specific to WTS. Methods/design This report describes the design and protocol of the first factorial experimental study that aims to test the effectiveness of pictorial HWLs based on their placement on waterpipe device, tobacco, and charcoal packages among young adult smokers and non-smokers residing in Lebanon and Tunisia. After completing a baseline assessment, participants will be randomly assigned to 3 experimental conditions in a 3 (HWL pictorial HWL on tobacco package vs. pictorial HWL on 3 placements [device, tobacco, and charcoal packages] vs. text-only HWL on tobacco package) x 4 (pictorial HWLs) x 2 (waterpipe smokers vs. non-smokers) factorial design. We will use a within/between-subject design, where pictorial HWLs and time (pre vs. post-exposure) are the within-subject factors and waterpipe smoking status as the between-subjects factor. Participants will complete post-exposure measures that include attention, perceived harm, intention to quit (smokers) or initiate smoking (non-smokers). Discussion This is the first international study examining the placements of pictorial HWLs using efficient within/between subject design. Findings will provide additional evidence to convince policymakers to consider three placements of HWLs specific to WTS as a promising regulatory target to curb WTS.Epigenetics is an emerging field, due to its relevance in the regulation of a wide range of biological processes. This review focuses on a relatively unexplored aspect of SMYD family members - their relation with immunology. Here, immunology is defined in the broadest sense of the word, including basic research on macrophage function or host immunity against pathogen infection, as well as clinical studies, most of which are centred on blood cancers.Gender differences in mate selection criteria across cultures are common. In various cross-cultural research, these gender differences are explained by different socio-cultural theories. Therefore, the present study was aimed to investigate gender differences in mate selection criteria in Bangladeshi culture and to explain these differences by the social homogamy theory. An unstructured interview method was followed to obtain the aim of the study. A total of 120 unmarried Bangladeshi university students were chosen to participate the study whose age were ranging from 21 to 24 years (M = 22.45, SD = 1.75). The participants were selected by a convenient sampling method from four universities in Bangladesh. They were equally divided in terms of gender and university. A total of twelve mate selection criteria were found in the study, in which each student averagely responded 7.23 criteria. The highest and lowest number of responses were observed in education (n = 108) and residential status (n = 33) criterion, respectively. The top-ranked criterion considered by male and female students was physical attractiveness and education respectively. Gender difference in mate selection preferences was found to be significant in the study. Though, gender difference was significant in age, education, financial status, physical appearance, physical attractiveness, and profession criterion; however, the gender difference was not significant in character, in-law family's education, in-law family's social approval, religion, region, and residential status. Mate selection criteria considered by Bangladeshi students are explained by the social homogamy theory. The study would help Bangladeshi people to be aware of their mate selection in their own Bangladeshi culture.Previous research has established the lack of motivation by primary education students vis-à-vis the acquisition of the necessary key competencies compulsory in the Spanish school curriculum and this is closely linked to poor academic performance on the part of the aforesaid students. Based on this current educational reality, we present a quantitative study regarding the perception of students after the implementation of a new gamified experience in the classroom such that it integrates, for the first time and jointly, the benefits of gamification (Deterding et al., 2011a; Deterding & Zagal, 2018) with interdisciplinary methodologies (Candel, 2018; Cruz-Pichardo & Cabero-Almenara, 2020; Flores-Aguilar, 2019) and technology-enhanced transmedia narratives (Scolari 2018a, 2018b; Jenkins, 2003; Scolari 2018a, 2018b). This integrative and innovative proposal was implemented in a primary school in Valencia (Spain) between October 2019 and February 2020. NPs) were synthesized by green synthesis technique using Aloe vera leaves extract as reducing agent. CB-5083 nmr In this work, we are aiming to investigate the potential of the novel greenly synthesized TiO
NPs as a nano-drug delivery system for the anticancer drug, doxorubicin (Dox).
The cytotoxicity of the synthesized TiO
NPs was tested on two cell lines; normal human skin fibroblasts (HSF) and breast adenocarcinoma cells (MCF-7). Then, Dox was loaded to both TiO
NPs (Dox- TiO
NPs) and liposomes (Dox-Lip). The loaded nanoparticles were characterized by TEM, FTIR, encapsulation efficiency, particle size and zeta potential measurement. Moreover, in vitro drug release was studied. Ehrlich tumor-bearing mice were used to study the anticancer activity of Dox- TiO
NPs, Dox-Lip, and aqueous Dox solution. Tumor volume, survival rate, and histopathological alterations were compared in all groups.
Dox was successfully loaded to both liposomes and TiO
NPs with an encapsulation efficiency of 77% and 65%, respectively. The particle size of Dox-TiO
NPs, and Dox-Lip was 14.53 nm, and 103 nm, respectively. The cumulative Dox released from TiO
NPs and liposomes after 4 h was 18 and 46%, respectively.Dox-Lip and Dox-TiO
NPs resulted in the highest degree of tumor growth inhibition with 100% and 83% of treated animals remained alive, respectively.
