• Currently, MRI in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) and functioning or abandoned epicardial pacing leads is not recommended. • MRIs in patients with CIED and modern functioning epicardial leads (implanted in 2000 or later) were performed without detectable adverse events in our patient cohort. • Allowing MRI in patients with epicardial pacing leads may significantly improve the diagnostic work-up, especially in specific patient groups, such as patients with congenital heart disease.
To investigate the radiological classification, gene-mutation status, and surgical prognosis of synchronous multiple primary lung cancer (sMPLC).
From January 2013 to October 2019, 192 consecutive patients with sMPLC were investigated. The clinical, CT, molecular, and pathological features of all patients were analyzed. Furthermore, the prognosis of 89 patients who only underwent surgical resection was evaluated.
Among 192 patients, all lesions pathologically confirmed or highly suspected as tumors based on radiological findings were retrospectively analyzed, and the CT findings of sMPLC were classified into three types (I) all lesions manifested as solid nodules/masses (14.06%, 27/192), (II) all lesions manifested as subsolid nodules/masses (43.23%, 83/192), and (III) tumor lesions manifested as a combination of ≥ 2 of the following patterns solid nodules/masses, subsolid nodules/masses, cystic airspace, and focal consolidation (42.71%, 82/192). Net water uptake (NWU) has been shown to have a linear relationship with brain edema. Based on an automated-Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score (ASPECTS) technique, we automatically derived NWU from baseline multimodal computed tomography (CT), namely ASPECTS-NWU. We aimed to determine if ASPECTS-NWU can predict the development of malignant cerebral edema (MCE).
One hundred and forty-six patients with large-vessel occlusion were retrospectively enrolled. Quantitative NWU based on automated-ASPECTS was measured both on nonenhanced CT (NECT) and CT angiography (CTA), namely NECT-ASPECT-NWU and CTA-ASPECTS-NWU. The correlation between ASPECTS-NWU and cerebral edema (CED) grades was calculated using Spearman rank correlation. Univariate logistic regression was used to assess the effect of radiological and clinical features on MCE, and a multivariable model with significant factors from the univariate regression analysis was built. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) was obtained and arevariable logistic regression model may enhance the identification of patients with MCE needing anti-edematous treatment.
• The automated-ASPECTS technique can automatically detect the affected regions with early ischemic changes and NWU could be manually calculated. • The CTA-ASPECTS-NWU performs better than the NECT-ASPECTS-NWU on predicting the development of MCE. • The multivariable logistic regression model may enhance the identification of patients with MCE needing anti-edematous treatment.
This study aimed to investigate the predictability of breast MRI for pathologic complete response (pCR) by molecular subtype in patients with breast cancer receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and investigate the MRI findings that can mimic residual malignancy.
A total of 506 patients with breast cancer who underwent MRI after NAC and underwent surgery between January and December 2018 were included. Two breast radiologists dichotomized the post-NAC MRI findings as radiologic complete response (rCR) and no-rCR. The diagnostic performance of MRI predicting pCR was evaluated. pCR was determined based on the final pathology reports. Tumors were divided according to hormone receptor (HR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER) 2. Residual lesions on post-NAC MRI were divided into overt and subtle which classified as nodularity or delayed enhancement. Pearson's χ

• In patients with breast cancer after completion of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the diagnostic accuracy of MRI for predicting pathologic complete response (pCR) differed according to molecular subtype. • When residual enhancement on MRI is subtle and seen only in the delayed phase, this finding could be associated with false-negative pCR results.
To compare four different methods for the quantitative assessment of dorsal scaphoid displacement in patients with scapholunate ligament tears.
A total of 160 consecutive patients who underwent CT arthrography to evaluate a suspected scapholunate ligament tear were prospectively included in this study approved by the local ethics committee. MR images were available for 65 of these patients. Two readers independently evaluated the dorsal scaphoid displacement on conventional radiographs with the dorsal tangential line (DTL) method, the posterior radioscaphoid angle (PRSA) on both CT and MR, and the radioscaphoid congruency ratio on MR. These measurements were compared in groups of patients with and without scapholunate ligament tears.
The measurement interobserver agreement was considered excellent for the DTL and the PRSA on CT (ICC = 0.93 and 0.88, respectively), good for the PRSA (ICC = 0.65) on MR, and moderate for the RSCR (ICC = 0.49). There was a significant increase in the values of DTL and PRSA ents with normal and partially torn ligaments.
• Dorsal scaphoid displacement is an important prognostic factor in patients with scapholunate instability. • Quantitative assessment of dorsal scaphoid displacement can be performed on conventional radiographs and CT with an excellent reproducibility. • The posterior radioscaphoid angle on CT yielded the best diagnostic performance for the identification of scapholunate ligament tears and the only method allowing differentiation between patients with normal and partially torn ligaments.

F]FDG PET/CT and MRI to guide individualized induction chemotherapy (IC) for patients with T3N1M0 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
A total of 542 T3N1M0 patients who underwent pretreatment [
F]FDG PET/CT and MRI were enrolled in the training cohort. A total of 174 patients underwent biopsy of one or more cervical lymph nodes. Failure-free survival (FFS) was the primary endpoint. The radiologic score, which was calculated according to the number of risk factors from the multivariate model, was used for risk stratification. The survival difference of patients undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) with or without IC was then compared in risk-stratified subgroups. Another cohort from our prospective clinical trial (N = 353, NCT03003182) was applied for validation.

To explore radiographers' actions toward inappropriate referrals and hindrances to assessing referrals.
An online survey was distributed to radiographers via the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT) networks. The questionnaire consisted of 5-point Likert scale questions on radiographers' actions to supplement referral information, actions for unjustified referrals and hindrances to referral assessment. The questionnaire was validated using a test-retest reliability analysis. Kappa values ≥ 0.6 were accepted. SPSS software was used for data analysis and chi-square tests to compare subgroups.
Total responses received were 279. The most reported actions to supplement missing referral information were to ask the patient or relative, examine the body region of concern and check medical records (73%, 70%, 67%, responded often/always, respectively). The actions when confronted with unjustified referrals were reported equally to consult the radiologist, referring clinicil communication and organisation of tasks can facilitate radiographers' participation in referral assessment to ensure appropriate imaging.
• Radiographers' actions of supplementing missing information in radiology referrals facilitate provision of high-quality health services. • Radiographers' strategy when confronted with inappropriate referrals is to consult radiologists and referring clinicians. • Better inter-professional communication and organisation of tasks can facilitate radiographers' participation in referral assessment to ensure appropriate imaging.
To develop and validate classifiers for automatic detection of actionable findings and documentation of nonroutine communication in routinely delivered radiology reports.
Two radiologists annotated all actionable findings and communication mentions in a training set of 1,306 radiology reports and a test set of 1,000 reports randomly selected from the electronic health record system of a large tertiary hospital. Various feature sets were constructed based on the impression section of the reports using different preprocessing steps (stemming, removal of stop words, negations, and previously known or stable findings) and n-grams. Random forest classifiers were trained to detect actionable findings, and a decision-rule classifier was trained to find communication mentions. Classifier performance was evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity.
On the training set, the actionable finding classifier with the highest cross-validated performance wa detection of actionable findings and excellent performance for detection of communication mentions.
• Classifiers were developed for automatic detection of the broad spectrum of actionable findings and subsequent communication mentions in routinely delivered radiology reports. • Straightforward report preprocessing and simple feature sets can produce well-performing classifiers. • The resultant classifiers show good performance for detection of actionable findings and excellent performance for detection of communication mentions.
To determine the value of gadobenate dimeglumine (Gd-BOPTA)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from the hepatobiliary phase for predicting poor outcome in acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients.
In this single-center retrospective study, 74 patients diagnosed as ACLF who underwent Gd-BOPTA-enhanced hepatobiliary magnetic resonance imaging were collected. The quantitative liver-spleen contrast ratio (Q-LSC) and the relative enhancement ratio of the biliary system (REB) at the hepatobiliary phase were measured. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to evaluate prognostic factors. The capacity of the Q-LSC and REB to predict the 90-day outcome was evaluated via receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.
During the follow-up period, twenty-eight of 74 ACLF patients (38%) had a poor outcome. The Q-LSC and REB were significant predictive factors (hazard ratio [HR] = 0.03 [0.002-0.54], p < 0.05; HR = 0.07 [0.01-0.88], p < 0.05) for prognosis in patients with ACLF.
