Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is thought to be diminished due to visual impairment, facial deformities, and fear of recurrence or secondary cancer. However, few studies have identified variables associated with HRQOL among those with RB. Purpose To compare HRQOL of adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with RB to matched controls and to identify predictors of HRQOL in RB survivors. Methods Using a cross-sectional design, 198 AYAs (101 RBs and 97 controls) completed HRQOL (PROMIS®-29 profile) and psychosocial questionnaires (Rosenberg self-esteem scale, multidimensional scale of perceived social support, and Hollingshead index for socioeconomic status). Clinical variables (age at diagnosis, visual acuity, laterality, heredity, treatment regime, and anesthesia exposure) were extracted from the medical record. Correlates of HRQOL were estimated using linear regression models. Results RB survivors reported similar HRQOL compared to controls. Physical function (p  less then  .001), social support (p = .013), and self-esteem (p = .028) were lower in the RB group compared to controls. Visual acuity and self-esteem accounted for 52% of the variance in PROMIS physical health summary scores and self-esteem accounted for 38% of the variance in mental health summary scores. Conclusion Despite deficits in physical function and self-esteem HRQOL in RB survivors was comparable to healthy counterparts. However, the majority of RB survivors in this study had normal visual acuity. Clinicians should explore ways to enhance self-esteem in RB survivors.
This study aimed to analyze maternal serum

-arrestin-2 concentrations in pregnant women complicated with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and compare them with the normoglycemic uncomplicated healthy control group.
A prospective case-control study was conducted, including pregnant women complicated with GDM between 15 February 2021, and 31 July 2021. We recorded serum

This study compared the psychometric properties of EQ-5D-5L and SF-6D to assess the interchangeability of both instruments in patients with a recent fracture presenting at a Fracture Liaison Service (FLS).
Data from a prospective observational study in a Dutch FLS clinic were used. Over 3 years, subjects were interviewed at several time points using EQ-5D-5L and SF-36. Floor and ceiling effects were evaluated. Agreement was evaluated by intra-class correlation coefficients and visualized in Bland-Altman plots. To assess the impact of belumosudil on the cost of care in chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) patients who have failed at least two prior lines of systemic therapy using a budget impact model.
A budget impact model with a 5-year time horizon was constructed in Microsoft Excel. The base case model uses the US prevalence rate of 3 L/4L + cGVHD patients from literature and secondary sources, with the potential for user-defined inputs, including model perspectives. The model includes data for two perspectives the national US population and a hypothetical US private payer health insurance plan with 10 million (Mil) members. Additional model inputs include market share of cGVHD treatments, their associated adverse event rates, and healthcare resource utilization.
The potential annual budget impact for the US national and payer plans was evaluated for cGVHD patients. Based on belumosudil utilization increasing to 55% in 3 L and 4 L + by 2026, cost savings of ∼5.5% and 6.7% ($128.8 and $4.9 Mil USD) were observed from national and payer perspectives, respectively. Cost savings in 2026 were derived from fewer AEs ($108.4 and $3.9 Mil USD, for national and payer perspectives; e.g. neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia) and reduced HCRU ($65.1 and $2.3 Mil USD, for national and payer perspectives; e.g. emergency room visits, ICU stays, etc.).
Results from the model were dependent on the available data inputs and assumptions. Real-world values may differ from the assumed performance of treatments, market growth, and treatment dosing and duration.

Transcatheter aortic valvular replacement (TAVR) is increasingly being performed for elderly patients with aortic stenosis (AS), and current guidelines acknowledge the importance of shared decision-making in their management. This study aimed to evaluate elderly symptomatic severe AS patients' perspectives on their treatment goals and identify factors that influence their treatment choice.
We performed a pre-procedural cross-sectional survey using a questionnaire at a single university hospital. The questionnaire included three primary domains (i) symptom burden, (ii) goals and important factors related to treatment, and (iii) preferred place of residence after treatment. We investigated 98 symptomatic severe AS patients who underwent TAVR (median age 86years, 26% men). None of the patients died during hospitalization, and most of them (94%) were discharged home. Prior to TAVR, the three most common symptom burdens were poor mobility (52%), shortness of breath (52%), and weakness (44%). The goal of this study was to explore whether intergroup discrimination regarding vaccination status can be observed in a resource allocation task. Participants (N = 818; Mage = 46.0 years) completed a resource allocation task. Results showed that the better-than-average effect was widespread among the participants as most of them perceived themselves more informed about the pandemic than others. The resource allocation task showed participants preferred to create maximum difference in favor of their group in intergroup situations, but decisions were fairer when targets' group membership was identical. Moreover, vaccinated people were more likely to use maximum difference strategies than non-vaccinated people. The results revealed that vaccination status changes the perception of intergroup situations, which may be important in planning future strategies to handle mass emergencies similar to the current pandemic.
Obesity is a global epidemic and a major predisposing factor for cancer. Increasing evidence shows that obesity-associated stress is a key driver of cancer risk and progression. Previous work has identified the phase-separation organelles, stress granules (SG), as mutant KRAS-dependent mediators of stress adaptation. However, the dependence of tumorigenesis on these organelles is unknown. Here, we establish a causal link between SGs and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Importantly, we uncover that dependence on SGs is drastically heightened in obesity-associated PDAC. Furthermore, we identify a previously unknown regulator and component of SGs, namely, the serine/arginine protein kinase 2 (SRPK2), as a specific determinant of SG formation in obesity-associated PDAC. We show that SRPK2-mediated SG formation in obesity-associated PDAC is driven by hyperactivation of the IGF1/PI3K/mTOR/S6K1 pathway and that S6K1 inhibition selectively attenuates SGs and impairs obesity-associated PDAC development.
