Overall, the results demonstrate that LIF promotes the malignant biological behavior of GC cells through LIFR-Hippo-YAP signaling. LIF may therefore be a useful biomarker for GC.Concussion and the sequelae have been controversial medico-legal issues for over 150 years. The following topics which are also important in clinical practice are discussed definitions of concussion, neuroimaging, onset and prognosis of headaches, cognitive impairment, cognitive rehabilitation, post-traumatic stress disorder, and risk of later development of dementia.
To translate and cross-culturally adapt the oral health impact profile-14 (OHIP-14) questionnaire into Indian sign language (ISL) using a video format and to evaluate its psychometric properties.
The study was conducted among hearing-impaired individuals attending the National Institute of Speech and Hearing, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The OHIP-14 was translated to ISL in a video format. The content validity and face validity were assessed. The final questionnaire was renamed as OHIP-12 ISL and was administered on 120 hearing-impaired individuals. Oral health indicators, OHIP-12 ISL scores, and a single-item global question (GQ) scores were used for construct validity assessment. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were assessed using Cronbach's alpha and intraclass correlation (ICC) coefficient. Discriminant validity was assessed by comparing OHIP-12 ISL scores with oral health indicators by using Mann-Whitney U test and Fischer's exact test. Convergent validity was assessed by correlating OHIP-12 ISL scores with GQ scores and oral health indicators by using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient.
The OHIP-12 ISL demonstrated high Cronbach's alpha (α=0.80). Average ICC coefficient was 0.98 (0.97-0.99) and demonstrated acceptable construct validity.
Translated and culturally adapted OHIP-12 ISL is a valid and reliable instrument to measure the OHRQoL among hearing impaired in India.

The physical activity (PA) of patients may change after microsurgical treatment for lower extremity lymphedema (LEL). We investigated whether PA changes perioperatively and whether it influences the treatment result.
Sixty patients with unilateral LEL (56 secondary and 4 primary) underwent lymphatic microsurgeries. Patients were divided into two groups based on improvement in International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF) categories; the outcomes were compared.
Fifty-three patients in whom linear pattern could be partially observed in indocyanine green lymphography or lymphoscintigraphy underwent lymphaticovenular anastomosis (LVA); seven patients in whom no linear pattern was observed underwent simultaneous LVA and vascularized lymph node transfer. No surgical complication was observed. The median IPAQ-SF score significantly improved from 990 (interquartile range 231-2,376) to 1,386 (interquartile range 940.5-4,158; p < .0001). The IPAQ-SF category improved in 22 patients (33.7%)void bias. The treatment of many medical conditions requires the use of multiple drugs. A study published recently in this journal nicely illustrates the need to consider the pharmacology of potentially interacting drugs when conducting pharmacoepidemiologic studies of patient safety outcomes associated with such interactions. By examining multiple streams of data, we can piece together the risks and the mechanisms of action underlying those risks, and provide useful information for clinicians and patients to use multiple pharmacotherapies safely.
Accumulating evidence implicates parathyroid hormone (PTH) in the development of osteoporosis. However, the causal effect of PTH on bone mineral density (BMD) remains unclear. Thus, this study is aimed at exploring the association between the concentrations of serum PTH and BMD.
The instrumental variables for PTH were selected from a large-scale genome-wide association study (GWAS; n = 29 155). Outcomes included BMD of the forearm (FA; n = 8143), femoral neck (FN; n = 33 297), lumbar spine (LS; n = 32 735), heel (HL; n = 394 929), and risk of fractures in these bones (n = 361 194). Furthermore, the BMD of 5 different age groups 15 years or younger (n = 11 807), 15-30 (n = 4180), 30-45 (n = 10 062), 45-60 (n = 18 805), and 60 years or older (n = 22 504) were extracted from a GWAS meta-analysis study. The analyses were performed using the 2-sample Mendelian randomization method.
Mendelian randomization analysis revealed that the level of serum PTH was inversely associated with BMD of FA (95% CI -0.763 to -0.016), FN (95% CI -0.669 to -0.304), and LS (95% CI -0.667 to -0.243). A causal relationship between serum PTH levels and BMD was observed in individuals aged 30-45 (95% CI -0.888 to -0.166), 45-60 (95% CI -0.758 to -0.232), and over 60 years (95% CI -0.649 to -0.163).
This study demonstrated that the concentrations of serum PTH is inversely associated with BMD of several bones. Further analysis revealed site- and age-specific correlations between serum PTH levels and BMD, which implies that the levels of serum PTH contribute to the development of osteoporosis.

Here, we characterize the genetic structure of the brilliant-thighed poison frog (Allobates femoralis) across an 880-km-long transect along the Purus-Madeira interfluve south of the Amazon river, based on 64 individuals genotyped at 7609 single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) loci. Pluripotin A population tree and clustering analyses revealed 4 distinct genetic groups, one of which was strongly divergent. These genetic groups were concomitant with femoral spot coloration differences, which was intermediate within a zone of admixture between two of the groups. The location of these genetic groups did not consistently correspond to current ecological transitions between major forest types. A multimodel approach to quantify the relative influence of isolation-by-geographic distance (IBD) and isolation-by-environmental resistance (IBR) nevertheless revealed that, in addition to a strong signal of IBD, spatial genetic differentiation was explained by IBR primarily linked to dry season intensity (r2 = 8.
