This article describes supplementary tables and figures associated with the research paper entitled "Impact of referral bias on prognostic studies outcomes insights from a population-based cohort study on infective endocarditis". The aforementioned paper is a secondary analysis of data from the EI 2008 cohort on infective endocarditis and aimed at characterising referral bias. A total of 497 patients diagnosed with definite infective endocarditis between January 1st and December 31st 2008 were included in EI 2008. Data were collected from hospital medical records by trained clinical research assistants. Patients were divided into three groups admitted to a tertiary hospital (group T), admitted to a non-tertiary hospital and referred secondarily to a tertiary hospital (group NTT) or admitted to a non-tertiary hospital and not referred (group NT). The pooled (NTT+T) group mimicked studies recruiting patients in tertiary hospitals only. Two different starting points were considered for follow up date of first hoand finally using referral time as the starting point. Figures 1 to 3 illustrate how HR increase with time for covariates that were considered as time-varying covariates (covariate*time interaction).The data describe supplementary materials supporting the research article entitled "Worldwide geographical mapping and optimization of stand-alone and grid-connected hybrid renewable system techno-economic performance across Köppen-Geiger climates" (Mazzeo et al., 2020). Hybrid renewable energy systems are increasingly adopted worldwide as technically and economically effective solutions to achieve energy decarbonization and greenhouse gas reduction targets. This data article includes the results of worldwide techno-economic optimization of stand-alone and grid-connected photovoltaic-wind hybrid renewable energy systems designed to meet the electrical energy needs of an office district. The technical simulations have been performed in TRNSYS 17 (Transient Energy System) environment. A total of 48 different locations around the world have been chosen across Köppen-Geiger climates with different latitudes and homogeneously distributed over the whole globe, considering very different climates. The analyses have been conducted for 343 different system power configurations, considering both stand-alone and grid-connected systems. A total of 16464 dynamic simulations were performed, summarized in yearly energy output from each component and in energy and economic indicators.Data describing appendiceal tumor incidence and epidemiology is limited. We collated data from appendectomy pathology reports between 2005 and 2018 in our institution and examined patient epidemiological and appendectomy pathological features [1]. Overall, 8,328 appendectomies were performed at our institution over the pre-specified time period and 8,162 patients had sufficient epidemiological data to be included in the analysis. A total of 153 patients (1.9%) were diagnosed with appendiceal tumors, of which 57 (37.3%) were Appendiceal Neuroendocrine Neoplasm (ANEN), 35 (22.9%) were mucinous cystadenoma and 34 (22.2%) ovarian cancer metastases. We further examined the ANEN cases in order to characterize initial patient and tumor characteristics, to evaluate the performance of further investigations and interventions, and ultimately to study the behavior of these tumors over time.
To describe expected imaging features on chest computed tomography (CT) after percutaneous radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of lung tumors, and their frequency over time after the procedure.
In this double-center retrospective study, we reviewed CT scans from patients who underwent RFA for primary or secondary lung tumors. Patients with partial ablation or tumor recurrence during the imaging follow-up were not included. The imaging features were assessed in pre-defined time points immediate post-procedure, ≤4 weeks, 5-24 weeks, 25-52 weeks and ≥52 weeks. Late follow-up (3 and 5 years after procedure) was assessed clinically in 48 patients.
The study population consisted of 69 patients and 144 pulmonary tumors. Six out of 69 (9%) patients had primary lung nodules (stage I) and 63/69 (91 %) had metastatic pulmonary nodules. In a patient-level analysis, immediately after lung RFA, the most common CT features were ground glass opacities (66/69, 96 %), consolidation (56/69, 81 %), and hyperdensity within the nocted imaging features immediately after RFA and their change over time in order to avoid misinterpretation and inadequate treatments.Introduction. The developing world continues to face challenges in closing the large treatment gap for epilepsy, due to a high burden of disease and few experienced providers to manage the condition. Children with epilepsy are susceptible to higher rates of developmental impairments and refractory disease due to delays or absence of appropriate management as a result. We demonstrated that a structured education intervention on pediatric epilepsy can improve knowledge, confidence, and impact clinical practice of first level providers in Zambia. Methods. Three first-level facilities across Zambia were included. Upadacitinib concentration After initial pilot versions and revisions, the final course was implemented at each site. Pre- and post-intervention knowledge and confidence assessments were performed. Additionally, chart reviews were conducted prior to intervention and 4 months after completion of training at each site to assess change on management. Results. Twenty-three of the original 24 participants from all 3 sites completed the training; 48% clinical officers, 43% nurses, 9% other expertise. Of the 15 concepts tested by knowledge assessment, 12 showed trends in improvement, 7 of which were significant (P  less then  .05). Chart reviews demonstrated significant improvement in documentation of seizure description (P = .008), seizure frequency (P = .00), and possible causes of seizures/epilepsy (P = .034). Discussion. Key elements of success to this program included hands on clinical skills building and case-based teaching, development of a program with direct and ongoing input from the target audience, and inclusion of assessments to monitor impact on clinical practice. Future studies looking at health outcomes are necessary to determine sustained impact.
