The coexistence of F-, Ca2+, nitrates, and other pollutants in water body has aroused widespread concern. In this research, a novel quartz sand biofilm reactor was established, aiming to study the key factors of different carbon to nitrogen (C/N) ratios (51, 41, and 31), initial Ca2+ concentration (180 mg L-1, 144 mg L-1, and 108 mg L-1), and hydraulic retention time (HRT) (4 h, 6 h, and 8 h) on simultaneous Ca2+ precipitation, F- removal, and denitrification. Results showed that the removal efficiencies of Ca2+, F-, and nitrate were 55.04%, 82.64%, and 97.69% under the low C/N ratio of 31, initial Ca2+ concentration of 180 mg L-1, and HRT of 8 h. 3-D Excitation-Emission Fluorescence Spectroscopy (3-D EEM) demonstrates that extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) was generated during the growth metabolism. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractometer images showed that Ca2+, F- removed in the form of CaCO3, Ca5(PO4)3F and CaF2 under Acinetobacter sp. H12 induction. Moreover, high-throughput sequencing results display that the biomineralized bacteria Acinetobacter sp. H12 exerted great influence in the bioreactor. This research will underpin the practical use of multiple pollutants such as F- and Ca2+ wastewater under the different C/N ratios.The application of crops straw and biochar in trace metals remediation from the contaminated environment attracted more and more attention during the past decade. Although there has been some review work on the mechanism of trace metals stabilization by crops straw, the effects and mechanisms of interaction among soil indigenous-microbes and crops-straw for trace metal adsorption and stabilization is still unclear. In this study, the dynamic effects along with potential mechanisms of wheat-straw (WS), wheat-straw biochar (WBC) and biologically modified wheat-straw (BMWS) were conducted to investigate the adsorption, leaching behaviour, chemical fractions and bioavailability of cadmium (Cd). The results showed that the biosorption capacity (qe) was most elevated in the BMWS treatment (14.42 mg g-1) as compared to WBC (6.28 mg g-1) and WS (4.20 mg g-1). The application of BMWS, WBC and WS at the rate of 3% significantly reduced Cd concentration in leachate to 53, 45 and 21% respectively, as compared to control. The addition of BMWS reduced the exchangeable Cd fraction resulted an increase in organic matter and carbonate bound Cd fraction in the soil. The DTPA extractable Cd was significantly decreased by 31.2 and 28.6% with the application of BMWS and WBC at 3% w/w respectively as compared to control. The research results may provide a novel perceptive for the development of functional materials and strategies for eco-friendly and sustainable trace metal remediation in contaminated soil and water by combination of straw and soil-indigenous microorganisms.Aurantio-obtusin, an anthraquinone isolated from cassiae semen, possesses diverse pharmacological activities, including hypotensive, hypolipidemic and anti-inflammatory effects. However, our previous studies demonstrated that exposure to aurantio-obtusin induced hepatotoxicity, but the mechanisms of the toxic effects remain unknown. The purpose of the present study is to establish a strategy for the metabolite profiling of aurantio-obtusin in normal and liver-injured rats. This study aimed at identifying the in vivo metabolites and the metabolic profiling in rats after oral administration at a dose of aurantio-obtusin (4 and 200 mg/kg) by using an ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-QTOF-MS) and metabolynx™ software. A total of 39 metabolites were detected and 3 of them were compared with standard substances. The results indicated that the principal metabolism pathways of aurantio-obtusin in normal rats were glucuronidation and sulfation, while in rats with liver injury, demethylation, dehydroxylation and reduction were also observed and regarded as new metabolic patterns of aurantio-obtusin. These findings helped us to understand the pharmacological and toxicological mechanisms of aurantio-obtusin. Moreover, this study could help to elucidate the metabolic profiling of other anthraquinones.As the global toll on human lives and ecosystems exacted by urban pollution grows, planning tools still lack the resolution to identify priority sites where toxic pollution can be most efficiently averted at a spatial scale that matches funding and management. Here we tackle this gap by demonstrating novel scalable methods to monitor and predict urban metal pollution at high resolution (100 trees based on new rapid and low-cost protocols introduced in this study. Our model predictions, showing that 50% of the total Cu and Zn pollution across the Puget Sound watershed is deposited over only 3.3% of the land area, will allow cities to effectively and efficiently target toxic hotspots.
This quasi-experimental design study in Poland explored the extent to which attitudes toward cluttering of university students could be changed or improved after a series of activities dedicated to attaining deeper recognition of problems associated with fluency disorders.
University students were assigned to either an Experimental or a Control group, with 39 in each (total = 78). They all completed the Polish version of the Public Opinion Survey of Human Attributes-Cluttering (POSHA-Cl) on two occasions up to eight weeks apart. Participants in the Experimental group attended the following intervention activities watching and discussing an educational video on cluttering, participating in a workshop on the nature of cluttering, and watching and discussing a documentary on the life experiences of people struggling with fluency disorders. The Experimental group also filled out an open-ended questionnaire at the end of the study.
Pre-intervention comparisons indicated that participants assigned to either of the Experimental or Control groups differed significantly on 2 of the 15 summary ratings (13 %) of their pre-POSHA-Cl attitudes toward cluttering. For the Experimental group, the intervention resulted in significant positive changes in cluttering attitudes on 8 of the 15 summary ratings (53 %). In contrast, pre- and post- POSHA-Cl scores for the Control group were essentially unchanged (0 of 15 ratings).
This quasi-experimental study demonstrated that it is possible to positively modify the cluttering attitudes of university students. This has implications for the length, content, and experiential components of interventions designed to improve public attitudes toward fluency disorders.

To compare prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) and computed tomography (CT) alone for the detection of biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer (PCa) and effect on treatment.
This retrospective study included 59 patients with recently recorded biochemical recurrence of PCa (mean PSA 1.96 ± 1.64 ng/mL) after radical prostatectomy. Salvianolic acid B Sirtuin activator Patients received PET/CT with either
Ga-PSMA-11 (n = 36) or
F-PSMA-1007 (n = 23). PET/CT and CT images were evaluated separately in regard to PCa lesion count, type, and localisation by two physicians. Histopathology, follow-up imaging and PSA levels after salvage irradiation served as reference standard. A McNemar test was used to compare detection rates. Changes in therapeutic approaches based on staging differences between CT alone and PET/CT were assessed in a virtual multidisciplinary tumour board.
There were 142 lesions in 50 of 59 patients. PSMA PET/CT detected 141 lesions (99.3 %) in 50 patients (84.7 %), while CT detected 72 lesions (50.7 %) in 29 patients (49.2 %). A significantly higher detection rate of PSMA PET/CT was observed on a lesion-based analysis (p < 0.0001) and on a patient based analysis (p < 0.0001). Herein, both
Ga- and
F-PSMA PET/CT performed significantly better than CT alone (p < 0.0001, respectively). In 9 patients (15.3 %) no relapse was detectable by either modality. All lesions detected by CT were also detected by PSMA PET/CT. In 38 patients PSMA PET/CT detected more lesions than CT alone, altering the treatment approach in 22 of these patients.

To explore whether CT texture analysis can identify thin-cap fibroatheroma (TCFA) determined by optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Thirty-three patients with 43 lesions who underwent both CCTA and OCT within 3 months were retrospectively included. 12 conventional CT-derived plaque features, fat attenuation index (FAI) and 1691 plaque radiomics features were extracted to discriminate TCFA lesions and non-TCFA lesions determined by OCT. Minimum redundancy and maximum relevance (mRMR) method was employed to select radiomics features. The top ranked features were used to construct a forward stepwise logistic radiomics model. The performance of radiomics model was compared with the conventional high-risk plaque (HRP) features model and FAI model for the detection of TCFA.
Out of 1691 features, 35 features were significantly different between TCFA and non-TCFA lesions (all p<0.05) while only low attenuation plaque (LAP) was more frequent in TCFA group (p = 0.004). There was no significant difference in FAI between TCFA and non-TCFA lesions. Five features were ultimately integrated into the radiomics model after mRMR analysis, which demonstrated significantly higher AUC for the detection of TCFA (0.952; 95 % CI 0.897-1.000) compared with the conventional HRP features model (0.621; 95 % CI 0.469-0.773, p < 0.001) and FAI model (0.52; 95 % CI 0.33-0.70, p < 0.001).
CT texture analysis performs better at identifying TCFA determined by OCT compared with conventional CT-derived plaque parameters and FAI. Texture analysis may serve as a potential non-invasive method of evaluating vulnerable plaque.

However, identification of the underlying viral pathogen may not always be easy. Clinical presentations of respiratory viral infections usually overlap and may mimic those of diseases caused by bacteria. However, certain imaging morphologic patterns may suggest a particular viral pathogen as the cause of the infection. Although definitive diagnosis cannot be made on the basis of clinical or imaging features alone, the use of a combination of clinical and radiographic findings can substantially improve the accuracy of diagnosis. The purpose of this review is to present the clinical, epidemiological and radiological patterns of lower respiratory tract viral pathogens providing a comprehensive approach for their diagnosis and identification in hospitals and community outbreaks.
