Providing free access to a broad contraceptive method mix, including both LARC and short-acting reversible contraceptives (SARC), may increase contraceptive use, meet women's various fertility needs, and increase their agency in contraceptive decisions. Linking facility and individual data from eight countries in sub-Saharan Africa, we use a propensity score approach combined with machine learning techniques to examine how free access to a broad contraceptive method mix affects women's contraceptive choice. Free access to both LARC and SARC was associated with an increase of 3.2 percentage points (95 percent confidence interval 0.006, 0.058) in the likelihood of contraceptive use, driven by greater use of SARC. Among contraceptive users, free access did not prompt women to switch to LARC and had no effect on contraceptive decision-making. The price effects were larger among older and more educated women, but free access was associated with lower contraceptive use among adolescents. While free access to contraceptives is associated with a modest increase in contraceptive use for some women, removing user fees alone does not address all barriers women face, especially for the most vulnerable groups of women. In order to contribute to the scientific research on the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), we have investigated the isoelectric points (pI) of several related proteins, which are commercially available the receptor-binding domain (RBD) with His- and Fc-tag, the S1 subunit with His-tag, the S1/S2 subunits with His-tag and the human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (hACE2) with His-tag. First, the theoretical pI values, based on the amino acid (AA) sequences of the proteins, were calculated using the ProtParam tool from the Bioinformatics Resource Portal ExPASy. The proteins were then measured with the Maurice imaged CIEF system (native fluorescence detection), testing various measurement conditions, such as different ampholytes or ampholyte mixtures. RNA Synthesis inhibitor Due to isoforms, we get sections with several peaks and not just one peak for each protein. The determined pI range for the RBD/Fc is 8.24-9.32 (theoretical pI 8.55), for the RBD/His it is 7.36-9.88 (8.91) and for the S1/His it is 7.30-8.37 (7.80). The pI range of the S1/S2/His is 4.41-5.87 (no theoretical pI, AA sequence unknown) and for hACE2/His, the determined global range is 5.19-6.11 (5.60) for all experimental conditions chosen. All theoretically derived values were found within these ranges, usually close to the center. Therefore, we consider theoretical values as useful to make predictions about the isoelectric points of SARS-CoV-2 proteins. The experimental conditions had only a minor influence on the pI ranges obtained and mainly influenced the peak shapes.
To investigate the stability of mechanical properties during the entire shelf life of chemically-activated bis-acryl interim resin materials stored at ambient laboratory conditions.
Four bis-acryl interim resin materials with no explicit recommendation for refrigerator storage were selected (Luxatemp Plus, Visalys Temp, Structur3, Structur Premium). Following cartridge storage at ambient laboratory conditions in 6-month intervals, 30 specimens (2.0 × 2.0 × 25.0mm
) were prepared in each case and stored in distilled water (37.0 ± 1.0 °C) with 3 different water storage times (2hours, 24hours, 7days). Flexural strength, modulus of elasticity, modulus of toughness, and elastic recovery were determined (3-point bend test). Data were subjected to a three-way multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) to determine overall significance, followed by a series of separate one-way ANOVAs after data were split, using Tukey and Games-Howell posthoc tests to identify significant differences between groups (α = 0.05).
resin material, mechanical properties appeared to be susceptible to continuous degradation processes during cartridge storage at ambient conditions, especially towards the end of the material shelf life. For some materials, the chemical stabilization and recommended storage conditions should be revised by the manufacturers to prevent premature aging during shelf life.Models of interprofessional collaborative practice have demonstrated improved outcomes for community-dwelling older adults. However, the concept of interprofessional collaborative practice for community-dwelling older adults needs clarification and a clear definition. A concept analysis based on the method posited by Walker and Avant was conducted to formulate an operational definition of this concept. Defining attributes, antecedents, consequences and empirical referents were identified from a review of the literature. A model case and contrary case were selected to further clarify the concept of interprofessional collaborative practice for community-dwelling older adults. Nurses are ideal leaders of interprofessional teams caring for older adults and can utilize this concept in practice, education and research.Shared anomalies, always located close to the area of coalescence and observable in virtually every type of conjoined twinning, are currently seen as separate anomalies caused by mostly unknown and seemingly unrelated pathways rather than being connected to the twinning mechanism itself. Therefore, most (case) reports about conjoined twins are mere descriptions of (external) dysmorphologies lacking reflections on the possible origin of their concomitant anomalies. As we will demonstrate in this article, shared anomalies are influenced, and in some cases solely and sequentially explained, by interaction aplasia and neo-axial orientation; two embryological mechanisms to which each set of conjoined twins is subjected and are responsible for their ultimate phenotypical fate. In this review, we consider how the ventral, lateral and caudal conjunction types and their intermediates determine the phenotypic presentation of the twins, including patterns of shared malformations and anomalies, which in themselves can be indistinguishable from those encountered in singleton cases.
